The Lightning MultiCom Series IV routers are 19" rack-mountable ISDN BRI and PRI as well as leased-lines routers with strong link-level and IP-level encryption option possibility. They are capable of handling up to 2 concurrent leased lines and up to 8 concurrent ISDN B-channels, and even bundling them for 512 kbits/s. The standard versions support also 1-8 leased B-channels.

The MultiCom Series IV provides secure ISDN and/or classic leased-lines connectivity for remote workgroups and remote individual users, up to eight remote locations can be served simultaneously.

They act as multiprotocol router and bridge for remote network access, routing TCP/IP while bridging other protocols.

The MultiCom Classic IV and Backup IV are also Leased Line backup units and rate-adaptation unit providing bandwidth-on-demand and backup over ISDN.

With their high level security and optional 128 bit encryption they provides a very secure and cost effective solution for ISDN and/or Leased-line Internet access.

They are rack-mountable and come complete with rack-mounting kit and desktop kit.

All include a LAN Ethernet interface standard with RJ-45 and AUI interface. The WAN interfaces vary as follows:

• Access IV: Provides 8 ISDN B-channels on 4 BRI for a total of 512 kbits/s
• Backup IV: Provides 2 Leased-line ports and 8 ISDN B-channels on 4 BRI for a total of 512 kbits/s
• Classic IV: Provides 2 Leased-line ports and 4 ISDN B-channels on 2 BRI for a total of 256 kbits/s
• Serial IV: Provides 2 Leased-line ports

• Provide 4 or 8 ISDN B-channels for a total of 256 or 512 kbits/s
• Automatic ISDN channels bundling
• Support leased ISDN D64S(2), TS01(2), sd64, hsd128
• Never busy ISDN Line, handling up to 100 or 200 remote sites, depending on configuration complexity and available memory
• High security level and 128 bit key encryption option
• Cost-effective use of a single-user Internet account (where supported by the ISP)
• Upgradable with 2 Leased Lines of up to 2 Mbits/s

The LIGHTNING MultiCom Backup IV delivers fully secure and reliable network connectivity for remote workgroups. The MultiCom Backup IV is also a Leased Line backup unit and rate-adaptation unit providing bandwidth-on-demand and backup over ISDN.

Following highlights distinguish all units with Leased-line ports:

• Two Leased Line serial ports at up to 2 Mbits/s each
• Backup and Overflow of Leased Line over ISDN (where available)

All MultiCom Series IV members of the MultiCom family present a complete set of high-end features : Multi-NAT and Multi-PAT, integrated DHCP server, integrated statefull firewall with syslog function and optional high-security encryption thanks to the International Data Encryption Algorithm (IDEA) with 128 bits encryption key, as well as DES and 3DES.
