In 3.3+ PPTP encapsulation is an option in the Easy Setup configuration for the WAN interface. It is designed for use with the Alcatel Modem ANT-1000 and has only been tested in Holland and Austria. PPTP passthrough is available in firmware 3.3 and higher.
If using 3.2 and PPTP one must- use the advanced Configurator to configure the WAN interface to be on whatever subnet the ADSL modem is on
- use the advanced Configurator to create a PPP connection, choose PPTP encapsulation, enter the username, enter the password, and enter the IP address of the ADSL modem
- in most cases the ADSL modem will default to the 10.x.x.x range so the user will have to reconfigure the LAN to be on a different subnet such as 192.168.0.1 with subnet 255.255.255.0
- reconfigure any DHCP clients on the LAN to be in the same subnet range of the LAN interface
- finally, either reset the workstation DHCP client or reconfigure the workstation static IP address to make use of the MultiCom Firewall.
