The largest known configuration file is 180kb. Although it took 13 minutes to boot a MultiCom Firewall with firmware 3.1 functionality was smooth after the file was loaded. Often an analysis of such a large configuration can show ways to simplify the configuration.
There are however 2 known issues when using large configurations (100+ kb) with the 3.0.1 firmware.
- configurations can be applied live (activated immediately from an already working configuration) but not as boot-up after a reboot.
- you cannot load this configuration from the active memory location into the Configurator but only from one of the storage memory locations (Bootconfig, config1-config6). So if you are going to use the Configurator you will need to make a backup file.
NOTE - you cannot paste a configuration greater than 64kb into the built-in web server text window, either use the Configurator or load the configuration directly from a text file on your computer. |
