I cannot open the Gateway's web browser from Konqueror.

The Konqueror web browser from the people who make KDE is still under development. Versions before 2.2.1 would not authenticate correctly with the MultiCom Firewall's web server. This would block you from using the web server to access the MultiCom Firewall's configuration.
There are 2 workarounds:
  1. Use another browser such as Netscape Communicator or Mozilla
  2. Update Konqueror to 2.2.1 or higher.
