Firmware 3.5 adds many more features and updates to your existing MultiCom Firewall! The Configurator software has many enhancements too: in-table editing, faster response, an NTP option to change the time zone, and more wizards.
Additionally there are big changes for VPN offerings. Not only is IPSec much more powerful, but we have added SSH Port Forwarding as an alternative to IPSec. IPSec users now have statistics about each connection, a quick view of existing connection status, NAT traversal, more cipher options, IKE key ids of email and FQDN.
Features include:
- DNS server to name computers
- Syslog message for dropped SecureWall packets
- NAT support for ESP and AH protocol
- DSL support for the Enterprise DSL (POTS DSL only) PPPoE, PPPoA, Bridged Ethernet
- Configurator IPSec Tunnel wizard
- Configurator Remote Access wizard
- Configurator DNS/DHCP wizard
- Shorter Easy Setup on web server
- CLI support to Manage users
- CLI optional for each user
- CLI enhanced "tab" control (more user friendly)
- NIDS Network Intrusion Detection using SNORT (for the Enterprise only)
- Eventlog gives date of event with time
- DHCP range can contain DHCP fixed addresses
- NTP option to change the local time zone
- IPSec Statistics (online and via Syslog)
- IPSec connection table (web server or Monitor software)
- IPSec NAT traversal
- IPSec Dead Peer Detection
- IPSec roadwarriors (using same PSK)
- IPSec IKE PSK id support for IKE key ids of email and FQDN
- SSH Port Forwarding Gateway (needs software client to access), max 10 username/password combos but multiple access for each one
- Quick Restore: hold the config button for 3 seconds and boot config is loaded, hold for 6+ seconds and load default config
With fixes for:
- DynDNS locking
- Clean end of PPPoE session
- Memory leaks
- Support for large NAT 1:1 files
- Active FTP passthrough with IPSec activated
